Choosing the right technology is the key to success for a startup.

But wait before starting the guess game. Don’t assume this article to be all about technology or programming languages to develop a software, by just reading the title. I don't always put technology stuffs in my articles. Fundamentally, technology is a tool that helps you execute your daily chores faster, more  effectively & efficiently.

So, I am going to discuss about how technology is not only software/computer related, its basically the right way to solve the problem.
It might be our personal or professional problems but finding the right solution is the key to success.

There are variety of technology to solve a problem, so how do we take the right technology when there are so many options out there?

Understanding the pain points

Before choosing the right technology, we should figure out the biggest pain points in our organisation. So that we can easily estimate, what we have already expertised in, and what we need to learn. Once we have the proper estimation with us, we can choose the best technology for our startup. There is no technology good or bad, all have their own usage. So we have to chose the technology which is best for our requirement.

I would suggest, you should ask your employees, how they spend their time each day. A good place to start is to ask everyone to take a moment to estimate how much time they devote to various, but specific activities each week. Make sure that you’re clear what you’re looking for in your company-wide trends, not scrutinizing individual employees’ time management.

Now, there's another way round to the problem of identifying pain points. Be explicit about your research & meticulous too. Ultimately the objective of introducing technology to a business is to improve & increase the output by providing the minimal input. It helps you manage your resources and get the optimum result for your effort.

Keeping this in mind, try asking your team about what are the most time consuming tasks they do in daily basis and try to solve through technology if possible.

Budget for technology

Yes this is the most important factor for choosing the right technology, because we can find variety of scalable solutions but we require additional budget for that. So we always find something that is bulletproof, something that fits our budget and doesn't improve one area of our business while disrupting another.

What should we do now

Choosing the right technology means having a clear understanding of your core objectives, the pain points that are getting in your way, and what the future looks like for your growing business.

1. Talk to employees to figure out what activities are eating up the most time in your organization.

2. Don’t be afraid to invite constructive criticism, but be clear about how you are going to use this feedback.

3. Think about what growth looks like for your business and how your technology can support that.

4. Understand that with the explosive growth of technology, there has also been significant growth in the options available to you to implement and manage it. While your organization may not have the resources internally, there are many third-party options available, often offering you a higher level of expertise.
